DETAILS: Rosenthal had a stable of top designers who started working with them at the launch of their Studio Line series in 1962, but none was more adept at creating sophisticated color patterns than the Italian Emilio Pucci. In his designs for the German porcelain manufacture he pulled out all the stops, ornamenting sleek shapes with energetic patterns that referenced everything from African tribal art to Art Deco classicism, all done in lush, vibrant colors ranging from candy-colored brights to austere and subtle jewel tones. They proved so popular that many were produced for almost four decades.
